Homem rejeitado pede indenização milionária após desilusão amorosa em Singapura

BRASIL – Um homem em Singapura processou por difamação uma mulher que se recusou a aprofundar uma relação amorosa com ele e o tratou apenas como amigo. Ele espera mais de US$ 3 milhões (cerca de R$ 15 milhões) como compensação pelo que chamou de “trauma constante” e “reduções de renda” que a rejeição teria lhe causado.

Identificado como K. Kawshigan nos processos, o homem entrou com a ação contra a mulher, Nora Tan, e a processou em outro tribunal enquanto o primeiro pleito não era julgado. Nesta segunda ação, já indeferida, ele pediu US$ 22 mil (R$ 110 mil) em reparação pela quebra de um acordo que a mulher teria feito com ele.

O acordo, de abril do ano passado, era uma lista de ações que a mulher compartilhou com o homem como uma última tentativa de impor limites à relação, segundo consta no texto da decisão. Kawshigan seguiu insistindo em encontros mais frequentes mesmo quando ela manifestou desconforto com isso.

Depois que Tan cortou completamente o contato com o homem, em maio, ele ameaçou a mulher ao escrever em uma carta que, se ela não cumprisse o que ele pedia, sofreria “dano irreparável à sua vida pessoal e profissional”. Tan conseguiu uma medida protetiva contra ele.

A conclusão do processo já julgado apontou que a “corte não será um acessório às tentativas calculadas [de Kawshigan] de obrigar o engajamento da ré, que, depois de anos lidando com a infelicidade do acusador, finalmente decidiu se levantar contra suas ameaças em vez de se entregar às suas demandas”.

Os dois se conheceram em um evento social em 2016 e desenvolveram amizade, que começou a desandar em setembro de 2020, quando eles discutiram, e a mulher, que afirmou vê-lo apenas como amigo, pediu que as interações entre eles diminuíssem. A partir daí começaram as ameaças e demandas insistentes.

No processo ainda em andamento, o acusador afirma que os US$ 3 milhões esperados como compensação serviriam para reparar danos causados por “perda incalculável de investimentos, reabilitação e sessões de terapia”.

Tan chegou a participar do acompanhamento psicológico do homem a pedido da terapeuta por cerca de um ano e meio, pensando que isso ajudaria Kawshigan a compreender a decisão dela de não desenvolver uma relação amorosa com ele e colocaria um fim às demandas e ameaças, o que não aconteceu.
Uma nova audiência do processo está programada a próxima quinta-feira (9).

BRAZIL – A man in Singapore has sued for defamation a woman who refused to deepen a romantic relationship with him and treated him only as a friend. He is seeking more than US$3 million (about R$15 million) in compensation for what he called the “constant trauma” and “income reductions” that the rejection would have caused him.

Identified as K. Kawshigan in the lawsuits, the man filed the suit against his wife, Nora Tan, and sued her in another court while the first claim was pending. In this second suit, already dismissed, he sought $22,000 in damages for breaking an agreement his wife had made with him.

The agreement, from April last year, was a list of actions that the woman shared with the man as a last attempt to impose limits on the relationship, according to the text of the decision. Kawshigan continued to insist on more frequent meetings even when she expressed discomfort with this.

After Tan completely cut off contact with the man in May, he threatened the woman by writing in a letter that if she did not comply, she would suffer “irreparable harm to her personal and professional life. Tan was able to get a protective measure against him.

The conclusion of the already tried case pointed out that the “court will not be an accessory to [Kawshigan’s] calculated attempts to compel the engagement of the defendant, who, after years of dealing with her accuser’s unhappiness, has finally decided to stand up against his threats rather than surrender to his demands.”

The two met at a social event in 2016 and developed a friendship, which began to unravel in September 2020 when they argued, and the woman, who claimed to see him only as a friend, asked for interactions between them to decrease. From there the threats and insistent demands began.

In the still ongoing lawsuit, the accuser claims that the $3 million expected as compensation would serve to repair damages caused by “incalculable loss of investments, rehabilitation, and therapy sessions.”

Tan even participated in the man’s psychological counseling at the therapist’s request for about a year and a half, thinking that this would help Kawshigan understand her decision not to develop a romantic relationship with him and put an end to the demands and threats, which did not happen.
A new hearing in the case is scheduled for next Thursday (9).
